Since my little boy, Captain Kirk, came slowly but spectacularly (22 hours of labour & emergency c-section) in to my life, time to follow my own pursuits has been scarce. Living in a different country to most family and friends means that babysitting services are somewhat limited so an hour off is a luxury, a night … never heard of.
As a result, I’ve had to make the most mundane of events a little magical. Snuck in to the middle of my day when CK takes his nap, is a coffee (or tea) break of fine proportions. No random old mug from the back of the cupboard, no snatched biscuit from a cellophane-wrapped pack. But instead, a well-chosen cup and saucer and a biscuit or savoury lovingly prepared. It might seem like a small thing but it makes a big difference to my day. A moment to be enjoyed rather than rushed.
Today’s coffee break, well tea break, is brought to you courtesy of PG Tips and my very first attempt at cupcakes.
